Leading our Homemover Specialist team is Meirion Shaw, a professional project manager who has worked at senior level in the corporate, public and voluntary sectors as well as in property management.

But how did The Homemover Specialist start? Well, in time honored fashion, due to personal experience. Within months, both Meirion’s mother-in-law and her godmother downsized. Whilst one had lots of support, the other battled on on her own. Both successfully completed their moves, but whereas one was ready for her next adventure, the other was physically and emotionally exhausted. Fairly soon after this, her friend’s marriage finished and he needed help finding and setting up a new home whilst balancing his demanding job. Then some American friends were moving to the UK and needed help finding schools, a new home and how to circumnavigate the English way of life.
“I saw at this time that there was a role for a surrogate daughter/friend – someone who could reduce a lot of the stress associated with moving by being there as an independent resource. There to hold a hand, be a shoulder to cry on or an expert in her field – anything and everything from decluttering, selling/buying furniture, managing the conveyancing process to recommending schools.”
Alongside the business, she continues her voluntary sector work which over the years has included organizing high-profile concerts, black tie dinners and balls, and numerous walks and fun runs, many of them also her initial idea and all of them raising many thousands of pounds for charities. With less time to play with, she now focuses on Sebastian’s Action Trust, and local dementia initiatives.

We offer a free initial consultation to assess clients’ individual needs. Based on this The Home Mover will produce a written proposal, detailing the work and fees involved. There is no obligation for the client to proceed on this basis. On agreement of the proposal, the client must return the signed proposal to the Homemover prior to the commencement of any work, or approve via email. We understand that once the work begins, there might be other issues which arise. We will always ensure any additional work is quoted for and agreed in writing along the way.
Our team is interviewed and vetted to a high standard to ensure they are working within our moral framework. We ensure all our employees share our values and commitment to providing the highest level of service. As well as obtaining written references for our employees, all are required to have an enhanced clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
